Blog 6: The Bright Side of Bosnia: The "Pyramids" of Visoko

"Pyramids"of Visoko Speculation, Science with a wink or earth shocking news? The “Bosnian pyramid” debate began on October 26, 2005, with an article in the Bosnian daily newspaper Dnevni Avaz, which was later translated to the BBC website. According to this article, there is in Bosnia, near the town of Visoko, a pyramid similar to the Egyptian ones, called by many, “Europe’s first pyramid.”   In April 2006 excavations began on the site, led by a Houston-based metalworker, Semir Osmanagić, who claims that the structures were most likely constructed by the Illyrians, and that the pyramid was therefore built between 12,000 and 500 BCE. The “pyramid,” at that moment, became a celebrity, received a name, Pyramid of the Sun, and began to multiply, as it is now talked about as the center of an entire “Valley of Pyramids.” According to Osmanagić, there are four other ancient structures in the valley: the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon, “Bosanska Piramida Mjeseca;” Bosnian Pyr

Blog 1: The Bright Side of Bosnia

The Bright Side of Bosnia   During the last week of April my son and I will through large parts of East and Central Bosnia. I am back in Bosnia for the first time since I left the Bosnia 24 years ago. The country was then a war-thorn area, destroyed by the civil war which resulted in more than 100,000 deaths and more than 2 million displaced people. On https://back2bosnia.blogspot.nl/   I will tell the dark side of Bosnia from my perspective.   However it is worthwile to don't focus on the dark side only. Bosnia has lots of breathtaking nature, mountains, rivers, villages and cities. During our trip I will share also the bright side of Bosnia.
